Wakmann Triple Date Chronograph ref. 725.1309 (37mm)

SOLD

Brand: Wakmann

Model: Triple Date Three-Register Chronograph ref. 725.1309 (rare variation); Swiss Made circa early 1970s

Case: Solid stainless steel "waterproof" case with screw-down back is approximately 37mm excluding the original signed Wakmann crown; original 725.1309 caseback is properly signed inside by "Charles Gigandet Swiss"

Bracelet: 19mm stainless steel "Oyster" style rivet bracelet with removable links and unsigned fold-over clasp

Movement: Valjoux cal. 730 manual-winding chronograph movement (17 jewels) with triple calendar functions (day, date, and month); 21,600 BPH; quick-set month and day via top pusher (for day, push slightly deeper); quick-set date arm via bottom pusher; Swiss Made

Features: Gorgeous original reverse-panda dial (matte black with white sub-registers and outer date track); original Tritium hands; original red chronograph sweeping-seconds hand; original matching sub-register hands; triple calendar functions (day, date, and month); three-register chronograph with 12-hour recording capability; 37mm solid stainless steel case with domed acrylic crystal

Condition: Nice original condition overall with minor wear consistent with age and use; solid stainless steel case has been lightly polished in the past but remains thick and full with a few dings on the bezel and top right lug; caseback is clearly legible with defined engravings and a crisp "ship" logo; very attractive original reverse-panda dial (matte black with white sub-registers and outer date track); original handset with some luminous material missing in the minute hand

Other: It's no secret that we love a good original Wakmann Triple Date Chronograph. In fact, we believe that it is one of the most underrated and under-priced vintage chronographs on the market today. Powered by a high-grade Valjoux 730 movement based on the legendary Valjoux 72, but with triple calendar functions and a higher beat rate for improved accuracy, it's difficult to imagine a better buy up to $3,000. With a 37mm solid stainless steel case and beautiful reverse-panda dial, it's the total package that wears well above its price tag. Also, it probably should have come with one of these "Oyster" style rivet bracelets from the factory because it looks that good on the watch.
