Seiko World Time 'Tokyo Summer Olympics' 6217-7000 circa 1964

SOLD

Brand: Seiko

Model: World Time Automatic ref. 6217-7000 (Silver Linen Dial) circa July of 1964; Made in Japan for the Tokyo Summer Olympics

Case: Solid stainless steel case with compressed back is approximately 37mm excluding the crown

Bracelet: Rare vintage 19mm Seiko STELUX stainless steel bracelet with signed SEIKO folding clasp (will fit approximately 6.75" to 7.5" wrist sizes)

Movement: Seiko cal. 6217A self-winding automatic (17 jewels) with quick-set date; 19,800 BPH; Japan; serviced

Features: Stunning original silver "linen" dial with vibrant colors and applied "SEIKO" logo; quick-set date display at 3 o'clock; unpolished 37mm stainless steel case with Olympic torch caseback; inner rotating world-time bezel; great Seiko STELUX bracelet; in-house Seiko 6217 movement (serviced); sharp acrylic crystal

Condition: Fantastic original condition overall with minor honest wear consistent with age and careful use; solid stainless steel case remains unpolished with the original finishes throughout; Olympic torch logo is worn but still visible on the caseback; outer edge of the caseback has a tiny crack underneath the 1 o'clock lug (caseback seals tightly and this is just aesthetic); beautiful original silver "linen" dial; vibrant world-time bezel; excellent original non-luminous hands; new acrylic crystal (original crystal will be included with the watch)

Other: This cool vintage Seiko World Time Automatic was manufactured in July of 1964 to commemorate the Tokyo Summer Olympics in October that year. We love the bright silver "linen" dial with black/blue 24-hour track. And the black 24-hour hand matches the black on the rotating world-time bezel. The wearer can line up their current location on the world-time bezel to the black 24-hour hand. The black/blue 24-hour track on the dial itself will then point to the corresponding times in other major world cities. The in-house 6217A movement features a convenient quick-set date feature (in either direction). For peace of mind, it has just been completely overhauled by our watchmaker with a brand new acrylic crystal installed at the time of service. The original crystal will also be included with the watch. We discovered this watch locally and it came fitted on this rare Seiko STELUX bracelet.
