Other: Vintage Heuer is as hot as it has ever been and we all know how difficult it is to find honest, original examples of desirable executions. It is not often that we learn the history behind a particular watch, but we had the pleasure of speaking directly with the original owner (Don) about this Heuer Autavia 11630 MH. Don was a U.S. Army Captain in the Air Defense Artillery Unit stationed in Germany in the 1970s. His wife also worked in Germany at that time and had been wanting to buy him a nice watch. She thought a Rolex would be a good choice and insisted on it even after Don told her that he wanted a Heuer (which was nearly the same price back then). As a self-proclaimed car enthusiast, Don appreciated Heuer's strong connection to motor racing and recalled Steve McQueen wearing his legendary Heuer Monaco 1133B (who ultimately made it famous). Low and behold, on Christmas Day in 1975, he received this special Heuer 11630 Automatic Chronograph from his wife who had purchased it at a local watch shop in Hanau, Germany. Don wore this watch throughout his military career and used it to time military drills and exercises. He was proud to report that his Autavia was far more accurate than any military-issued timing devices. If you're looking for a collectible vintage chronograph, this original-owner Heuer Autavia is a great buy!
