Other: Our founder (Justin Vrakas) is an avid collector of vintage mechanical alarm watches, so we are extremely proud to offer this rare and fine Gruen Alarm in exceptional original condition. We located this particular example in Switzerland, which makes sense given that it is a Swiss model (see "SWITZERLAND" text at the bottom of the dial). This Gruen 910SS was manufactured in the 1950s and fitted with a beautiful Langendorf 1244 movement, which is controlled entirely by a single crown and features an open aperture at 12 o'clock to indicate whether the alarm is on or off. The movement contains two separate barrels for the watch and alarm. The alarm barrel is wound by turning the crown clockwise (toward 12:00) and the mainspring barrel is wound by turning the crown counter-clockwise (toward 6:00). It has two separate setting positions for the alarm hand and time. This watch is as unique as it is cool and represents an advance in mechanical alarm technology! Also, the 35mm stainless steel case with fat lugs wears incredibly well on the wrist. For those of us that are tired of seeing the same watches over and over again, we guarantee that you won't run into anyone else wearing this watch...
