Other: It's no secret that the yachting regatta countdown is one of our all-time favorite complications here at watchsteez. If you haven't been out yachting recently, we'll break it down for you: The white, blue, and red segments each represent 5-minute intervals within the 15-minute countdown. In the 15 minutes leading up to a race, yachts are jockeying for position behind a starting buoy - The tri-color coding makes the chronograph easy for skippers to read at a glance, letting them know when they can cross the starting line. Given the relative obscurity of the sport, tool watches designed specifically for this purpose are quite rare. We absolutely love this OW with its incredible matte black dial that sparkles in the sun and large case with stainless steel bezel. Furthermore, this early example is even more rare and special with the high-grade Valjoux 92 movement. Almost all of these watches came with a later Valjoux 7730 or 7733 movement, which is of much lesser quality and construction. For example, early two-register Heuer Carrera watches were powered by the same Valjoux 92 movement that is offered here. For peace of mind, the movement was completely overhauled by our watchmaker with new gaskets installed at the time of the service.
